What ChatScan stores
Metadata only
The ingest API accepts a fixed set of fields. Any request carrying message content is refused before it reaches the index.

- {HASH}/{ID-number}, derived from the X11 record hash
- Ciphertext digest
- A 64-character hash of the encrypted payload, computed on the client
- Ciphertext size
- Byte length of the encrypted payload
- Protocol
- Transport protocol identifier
- Channel hash
- Optional opaque conversation identifier
- Fee and client version
- Optional, supplied by the client
- Timestamps
- When the record was received and confirmed
Never accepted, never stored
- Message content
- Plaintext or ciphertext bodies are refused with HTTP 400
- Attachments
- Not accepted in any form
- Account identities
- No usernames, addresses, phone numbers or device identifiers
- Decryption keys
- Keys never leave the CrypterChat clients
